Link Up Thursday @The Homeschool Village: School Uniform?

20 October 2010
I still laugh at this photo. He has gone through a superman sleepwear phase, a banana phase, and even a 'just only' peanut butter stage. This stage however, baffles my brain, I am not sure if it's because Daddy has a 'helmet' that he has seen him wear previously for work (we are a military family) or what?! I still can't figure this one out...but it's a pretty silly uniform none-the-less! [really laughing out loud]

So technically is not a total uniform, but with a potty-training boy as peculiar and stubborn as this one...it was the perfect uniform for the day. ;) Gotta love boys...

Overall with my boys, we do not have a strict uniform per say like the local school district requires, but I do have the boys dress for the day. Our uniform usually means a shirt, pants or shorts (depending on the weather), but I do not require the boys to wear socks and shoes during the day. If we have an outside event, then of course we are all dressed for the appropriate season.

If you would like how our daily schedule looks like most days, you can view it here.

I absolutely LOVe your uniform. Your son will be mortified by the picture when he turns 9....but, when he's a Dad...he'll dress his son the same way for a picture, too!!! Many Blessings!

I forgot about our "shoes" code until reading your post.
I'll just say that three of my kids have tough feet. The really dislike shoes when they're playing.

Oh yes these were the days before we moved to Canada where it is colder than where they were born. Even so they loved that uniform. I've got a whole lot of pictures of them between 1-3 years of age in that particular uniform.

Sounds pretty much like us... :) Dress-up clothes are often part of the uniform.

Oh, Jessica! As a mama of two boys, how I love the expression of character in this picture! A treasure for life! My little guy would be right at home in his fireman's hat. :)

I LOVE the photo! It’s amazing what little ones come up with to wear, isn’t it?! We had a similar policy of my kids getting dressed for the day, although when I think of it, they often had bare feet during the school day as well!

I love that "uniform" picture! We often do bare feet here too - until we get ready to go out!

Love the picture. My son went through a phase during winter mind you... where all he wanted to wear was his underwear all day. And my daughter only wanted to wear jammies to homeschool. I put my foot down this year and only allow jammies once in awhile as a treat. I think getting dressed sets the tone for the day and makes us all a bit more productive. I am glad I am sticking with it this year. We don't require shoes though, unless we are going outside.
