Homeschool Journey, Part 2

30 June 2009

Ok, so finally I found the SLO (school liasion officer). I did not have to make an appointment, so that is wonderful. Well, it looks like it will be super easy (understatement) to enroll my children from DoDDs to Homeschool. The Schweinfurt Garrison doesn't not keep "records" for which children are homeschool...rather they have to register with the school and then "withdrawal" to category Homeschool.

From what I gather, I will be able to still have access to the school/activities as well as the SAS building!! WoW. I asked if we can use the SAS building during the day??? REALLY??? WOW!! There is a Gym, Computer Lab, Activities Lab, etc. etc. WOW! Also, the kids would still be able to go on "Class Field Trip" (approved by us-of course). Hey, I am really liking this all the more. I will be able to nuture my children in the sight of the Lord and still have access to extend their knowledge.

Funny, how just last night, (yes, we go to church on Wednesday night too), our Pastor preached on the very subject of the difference of knowledge and wisdom. Two different subjects.

Knowledge is facts, intelligence. We want our children to have this-of course-because we to want them to have a joyous, 'successful' life BUT.....knowledge without wisdom is not joyous to the Lord. Knowledge leaves God out of the picture.

Wisdom is insight. God is center of that knowledge and Christ becomes center of our lives....and that is what success truly is. Unlike what the schools/environment tells us that success is how much money we have, what cars we drive, clothes we wear, the square footage of your home, NONE of that matters to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Eternal life is what matters and this is why I want to begin homeschooling my boys... I commend all that start from the beginning(to homeschool), but I tell you what, not until I started praying for "wisdom" did I not see that knowledge isn't enough or the only thing that is important...for this family, but to strive for wisdom from the Lord is our ultimate goal.

James 3:13 Who [is] a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

James 3:14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

James 3:15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but [is] earthly, sensual, devilish.

James 3:16 For where envying and strife [is], there [is] confusion and every evil work.

James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, [and] easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

James 3:18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace

WELL---off to doing more research...
